Finally did it--opened a Roth IRA
I'd been thinking about opening a Roth IRA pretty much since I first heard about them, only I never felt quite comfortable about doing so. I'm not sure why; I guess I was more concerned with putting as much as possible into my 401a. I'm not sure why I suddenly moved on it today--maybe it was all the recent talk about Roths in the financial blogosphere that made me feel it was now or never.
I've only put $250 in it so far, and haven't yet set up automatic investments. I'm waiting until I figure out how much I should continue contributing to my 401a and how much to move to my Roth--I currently contribute 20% of my income to my 401a (I'm not maxing it out, however).
I went with ING Direct because it was one of the banks David Bach recommended for IRAs in his books, and I had a savings account with them. Now I'm wondering, did I go with the right bank?
Any comments, suggestions, etc. are welcome.
