A little more about that debt
Yep, that’s right; I finally admitted how much credit card debt we were carrying. When I reported our net worth last month, I was a little embarrassed by the debt load, and that’s why I didn’t report it specifically. You may be asking how the heck we wound up with over $20,000 in credit card debt. Well, here goes:
Kitchen countertops (Corian); bedroom furniture; $2000 of my LASIK operation; my PI class (was $4995; have since gotten $1000 back); a trip to Prague (vacation); a trip to Austin, TX (funeral); a couple of gadgets; surely some clothing; probably many books.
While we’re not what you’d call frugal, we’re not exactly spendthrifts either. The fact that we could still rack up over $20,000 in credit card debt is kind of scary, and frankly I’m very relieved it’s gone.

Good job on getting rid of the credit card debt. It is amazing how fast debt can start to pile. Once you go through the pain of paying off that much debt it should make repeating the process less likely.
