Good news on the home-buying front
I would like to share that J and I have found a house in a quiet neighborhood in the Seattle city limits! We close on June 21st. Goodbye, tiny bungalow and monthly rent check. Hello, lovely new (to us) home and big whoppin' mortgage.
Is it really all that whoppin'? Well, it's more than our mortgage in Massachusetts. Is it too much? I don't think so, though because of all of the credit card debt we're currently carrying it will be fairly tight for a while. At least it's a 30-year fixed mortgage, and we're not paying PMI.
Regarding my last post and my current credit card debt, I'm rather glad that debt isn't currently considered a social faux pas, because I would be a persona non grata.
UPDATE: At least only one of these applies ("You have more than $5000 on your credit cards").

congrats!
I worried the one day your blog vanished that you up and left the blogosphere and we'd never know what happened to you!
So it actually vanished altogether? I didn't realize that! I wonder why it disappeared and for how long it was gone?
Congratulations on buying a home in Seattle!
I've been following housing prices in the Northwest and I've heard how overpriced Seattle is and how the returns are iffy at best. But glad you and J decided to take the plunge. Just curious - were you able to negotiate on the price at all?
sf money: Nooooo; in fact, we got into a minor bidding war and ended up paying a few thousand over the asking price. What makes that hurt a little less is we think the house was a bit underpriced (compared to the rest of the market, and especially to some others we saw).
Congrats on your new home in the Pacific Northwest. I just bought a condo in Edmonds and I love it! I hope you enjoy your new home as much as I am enjoying mine. :)
Congrats on buying your new home. I hope to be a new home buyer myself in the not too distant future. :-)
Awesome! I thought you had disappeared a bit too. But fantasticness on the bankruptcy drop off and the job news in Feb.
Good luck with the new house!
Congrats ... Greenwood, perchance? We seem to go to the same places. Are you my neighbor?
Also noticed that you've been known to watch Serenity. If so, check out the Wayward. Better than a plan. :D
